Open converter →Which Format Should You Use?
- JPG — best for photographs and for anything you need to upload or email widely. Small files, supported everywhere, but lossy.
- PNG — best for screenshots, logos, and UI graphics, or whenever you need transparency or perfectly crisp edges. Lossless, so files are larger for photos.
- WebP — a modern web format that is smaller than JPG and PNG, but not yet readable everywhere. Convert it to JPG when an app, printer, or older program rejects it.
- HEIC — Apple’s efficient iPhone photo format. Convert to JPG to use the photos on Windows, Android, and most upload forms.
- SVG — a scalable vector format for icons and logos. Rasterise it to PNG when you need a fixed-size image, a social/OG card, or an app icon.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are these converters free and private?
Yes. Every converter is free with no sign-up, and the conversion happens entirely in your browser — your files are never uploaded to a server. You can confirm it in your browser network panel.
Which format should I convert to?
Use JPG for photos you need to share or upload widely (small and universally supported). Use PNG for screenshots, logos, and anything needing crisp edges or transparency. WebP and HEIC are space-saving formats best converted to JPG or PNG when an app or site will not accept them.
Do conversions reduce quality?
Converting to a lossless format (PNG) does not lose quality, though the file gets larger. Converting to a lossy format (JPG) can introduce a small loss, but at high quality it is usually invisible. Converting never adds back detail an earlier format discarded.
