How to Rotate PDF Pages

  1. Upload your PDF. Drag it onto the upload area or click to browse.
  2. Choose a mode. All pages applies the same rotation to every page — the common case for upside-down scans. Per page lets you set a different rotation for each page.
  3. Set the rotation angle. 90° clockwise turns a sideways landscape page back to portrait, 180° flips an upside-down page, and 90° counter-clockwise is the opposite of clockwise.
  4. Rotate and save. Click Rotate & save to apply — the green banner confirms success.
  5. Download. Click Download PDF to save the rotated file.

Good to Know

  • Rotation is non-destructive. The tool sets a rotation flag rather than re-drawing the page, so no pixels are resampled and quality is identical to the original.
  • It is reversible. Apply the opposite angle to undo a rotation. Because rotations add up, running the tool a second time stacks on top of the first.
  • Long documents. Per-page mode covers the first 30 pages; beyond that, rotate everything in All pages mode, or split out the section first and merge it back afterwards.
  • Per-page control. Use it for duplex scans where every other page is flipped, or for a report with one stray landscape chart among portrait pages.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are my scanned pages upside down or sideways?

Flatbed and multi-function scanners vary in which edge they treat as the top, so a document placed the wrong way comes out rotated 180 degrees, and a portrait page fed sideways comes out as landscape. Mobile scanning apps sometimes misread the device orientation too. Rotating 90 degrees fixes a sideways page; rotating 180 degrees flips an upside-down one.

Does rotating change the page content or resolution?

No. A PDF rotation is a metadata change — the tool writes a rotation flag onto each page. The actual text, images, and vector data inside the page are untouched, so there is no quality loss and nothing is re-rendered.

Can I rotate only specific pages?

Yes. Switch to Per page mode and set a rotation for each page individually; pages left on "No change" keep their current orientation. Per-page mode lists the first 30 pages to stay manageable — for longer documents, use All pages mode or split the section out first.

Can I undo a rotation?

Yes. Because rotation only sets a flag, applying the opposite angle cancels it — rotate 90 degrees counter-clockwise to undo a 90 degrees clockwise, or 180 degrees to undo 180 degrees. Rotations are cumulative, so running the tool twice adds the angles together.

My document has more than 30 pages — can I still rotate just some?

Per-page mode shows the first 30 pages to keep the list usable. For longer files, either rotate everything at once in All pages mode, or use the PDF Splitter to pull out the section that needs rotating, rotate it, and recombine it with the PDF Merger.

I rotated the PDF but it still looks wrong in another app.

The tool writes a standards-compliant rotation flag that virtually every modern viewer honours. A small number of older or non-standard renderers ignore the flag — opening the file in a current browser or PDF reader will show the correct orientation.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Rotation is applied in your browser using the pdf-lib JavaScript library. Your file never leaves your device, and the tool keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
