How to Resize for Social Media

  1. Pick a platform. Select Instagram, Facebook, YouTube or any other platform from the pill buttons at the top of the tool.
  2. Choose a size. Each platform shows its exact post formats — square, landscape, Story and more — with pixel dimensions. Click the one you need.
  3. Add your image. Drag a file onto the upload area or click to browse. The image is read directly from your device; nothing is sent to any server.
  4. Review the preview. The tool center-crops your image to the required aspect ratio and scales it to the platform's recommended resolution. The live preview shows exactly what you will get.
  5. Choose output format and quality. JPG works for photos; PNG for logos and screenshots; WebP for the smallest file size. Adjust the quality slider for JPG and WebP.
  6. Download. Click Download to save the processed image with a descriptive filename ready to upload to the platform.

What Are Safe Zones?

Every social platform overlays its own interface on top of your image — progress bars, captions, navigation buttons, profile icons. The area below and above these UI elements is called the safe zone.

If you place a logo, headline, or face outside the safe zone it may be partially hidden. The blue tip boxes in the tool tell you the safe zone for formats where it matters most, such as Stories and banners.

As a simple rule: keep the most important content in the centre third of any vertical format and away from all four edges for banners.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Everything runs in your browser using the Canvas API. Your files never leave your device — you can verify this in the browser Network panel: no upload request is made.

Why does the tool center-crop instead of just resizing?

Social platforms enforce exact aspect ratios. Simply scaling a 4:3 photo to a 1:1 canvas would stretch or squash it. Center-cropping keeps the subject in the middle and fills the frame cleanly — the same approach professional design tools use.

What if the crop cuts off something important?

The center-crop works well for most photos. If your key subject is off-center, use the general Image Resizer to set exact dimensions and keep the full image, or crop manually in a photo editor before uploading here.

How do safe zones work?

Platforms overlay their own UI (navigation bars, text overlays, profile icons) on top of your image. Safe zone tips tell you which areas are likely to be hidden. Keep logos and important text inside the safe zone to ensure they are always visible.

Which platforms are supported?

Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter), YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok and Pinterest. Dimensions are verified as of June 2026. Platforms occasionally update their specs, so always double-check critical campaigns against the platform's official help pages.

Can I use PNG instead of JPG for social posts?

Yes — select PNG in the output format section before downloading. PNG is lossless and keeps sharp edges on logos and text. For photos, JPG or WebP is usually the better choice since it produces smaller files at the same perceived quality.
